Independent Occupational Therapist for Occupational Therapy Services in Devon, Dorset and South West
Welcome to my website. I am a qualified independent Occupational Therapist and a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists. Based in Dorset, I am prepared to travel throughout the South West of England.
"My assessment came at a very difficult time, going through a divorce and having to come to terms with having chronic pain/disability. Though Sarah retained her objectivity, I found her understanding and approachable. She was able to give me some insight on my condition and some steps forward to take. Her report was very honest and true to the situation. I have taken her advice and found it extremely beneficial. I have now personally hired Sarah as an independent occupational therapist to help me apply for Disability Living Allowance."

How Occupational Therapy Services can help you
Occupational therapy is a skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. It gives people the skills necessary for independent and satisfying lives.
OTs work with a range of people including those who are disadvantaged by physical, mental and/or social problems, either from birth or as the result of accident, illness or ageing. They are aware of the impact on people's lifestyles and ability to participate in society.
As an independent Occupational Therapist I will take a person centred approach to design a programme of treatment based on individuals' unique lifestyle and preferences, sometimes modifying the environment surrounding the person. Enhancing someone's ability to participate in everyday activities is the central aim of Occupational Therapy services.
OTs recognise and understand that everyone's lifestyle is different and how each person chooses to live is up to them. They will consider the importance of how a person's physical, mental and social needs will impact on their recovery process and help them to achieve the life goals and aspirations that are most important to them. Their focus will also be on working with people to reduce avoidable dependency.
"Very pleased with efforts made by the O.T to assess and help my mother. We very much appreciated 'the extra mile' she went to,going to the shop to buy the relevant aids and dealing with me long distance and also the way she accomodated our particular situation"

"Sarah has been the most helpful O.T I have
seen..she went out of her way to find implements which would
aid me in daily living without pressurising me to agree to
items I was not sure on. Many thanks
for finding the 1-up hair tie,in 5years nobody else has
managed to make any sensible suggestions to enable me to do
this'

"The meeting was very helpful. I felt I
could be honest and open about my need to remain independent
despite my disability. I am also more aware of help and
equipment that is available to me in order to help me achieve
this.……The report was sent to me within 24 hours which is an
amazingly professional response!"
